Obituary

Mansfield, TX -- Robert “Bob” M. Koenigseder, 74, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2020, from complications of heart disease at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center.

Bob was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on February 25, 1946, and was the only son of German immigrants, Max Koenigseder and Theresa Hoelkinger Koenigseder. Bob took great pride in his German heritage, and frequently traveled to Germany to visit his German relatives.

Bob attended Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, Wisconsin, obtained his BA from Concordia University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and later obtained his MBA in California.

Bob’s keen interest in cars naturally led to his career path. After a short stint at Firestone Tire Company, he joined Midas International Corporation for the remainder of his life. Midas eventually brought him and his family to Fort Worth in 1976, and he soon became the Regional Troubleshooter for all Midas stores west of the Mississippi, then International Sales Manager, traveling to parts of the globe to establish new Midas stores, including Australia, Panama and Germany. In 1980 he became owner and operator of his own Midas store in Fort Worth which grew to five stores throughout the local area. All Bob’s enterprises were successful because Bob gave incredible Customer Service to his customers and his employees, employing his bigger-than-life infectious smile, his professional demeanor, and professional fairness.

His children, Amy and Robb, gradually assumed more responsibility for the family business, which allowed Bob to travel. He could now enjoy life to the fullest, knowing they would continue his established business practices.

Bob was an active member the Midas Dealers Association. He belonged to Rotary International and enjoyed participating in Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. He also was a charter member of the IHOP Early Birds Breakfast Club, which convened every morning at 6:30 am. His generosity and caring was reflected in many behind-the-scene kindnesses. Bob never met a stranger.

Bob’s zest of life was also as large as his smile. He was a multifaceted individual with many interests, including scuba diving, and navigating his boat, Wild ‘n Crazy, through both calm and stormy waters. He equally loved the mountains and enjoyed fly fishing, camping outdoors, and riding his beloved Harley. Most of all, he reveled in spending time with his family -- especially his grandchildren -- at the family ranch south of Mansfield.

Service: Honoring Bob’s request, there will be no service.

Memorials: Expressions of sympathy may be made through donations to the Mayo Clinic, St. Jude’s Hospital for Children, or Shriner’s Hospital. Please “Pay It Forward’ by passing his infectious smile and zest of life to others, as he did.

Special Thanks: The family would especially like to acknowledge the many nurses and doctors who freely gave their loving care to Bob during his stays at the hospital, while working countless hours to help others recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. His cardiologist, Dr. Amir Amin, and his incredible staff played an intrinsic part ensuring Bob’s comfort and care.

Bob is preceded by his parents, Max and Theresa Koenigseder, and many German and USA relatives.

Survivors: Bob is survived by his wife, Becky; Dorothy Koenigseder, his former wife and beloved “Oma” to the family; daughter Amy Koenigseder Flores and her husband Jesse; Robb Koenigseder and his wife Tammy; his grandchildren, Zack Koenigseder, Zoe Koenigseder and Jordan Flores; close business associates and friends and many, many furry and feathered friends.

Becky, Dorothy, Rob (Tammy), Amy (Jesse) and Grandchildren: We can’t imagine the heartache you must feel. Our hearts go out to you all. Words are inadequate to express the sadness we feel for you. There is nothing we can do or say to make what you face any less painful. Just know that we are thinking of you. We are praying for your family during this difficult time. We ask God to give you comfort, strength and peace. Bob, was such a joy!

My sympathies to Bob’s family and friends. I was a classmate of Bob at Catholic Memorial. At one of our reunions he spoke so proudly of his Midas stores and the opportunities his business gave him. I would like to pay my respects for Bob with a message to Catholic Memorial High School. Rest In Peace, Bob.
