Lottie Lucille Perkins, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025, in Mansfield, Texas.
Lucille was born November 21, 1941, in Brownsboro, Texas to Johnnie and Nellie McCall. She grew up in a home dedicated to a love of God; her life was full of faith, family and friendship.
Lucille married Roy DeWayne Perkins in 1957; she was pregnant with their first child one month later. To know Lucille was to know her two great loves: Jesus and her family. Lucille was an active member of Hallmark Baptist Church. If you tried to find Lucille on any given day, she was likely at church, volunteering in the church kitchen with friends for various events. When she wasn’t working at various Vacation Bible Schools or potlucks, Lucille was either with or supporting her family, working hard to do so. She spent several years working for the Nestle company and then moved on to BMW. There, she worked her way up and managed the office side of the Dallas location, where she eventually retired. Lucille was clever and quick- witted, often hilariously sarcastic to the people closest to her. Whether you knew her through church, family, or work, you were impressed by her grit, sense of humor, and dedication to the people she loved.
As Lucille’s family grew, so did her ability to create things: new recipes, crafts, and fun memories. She enjoyed working in the lawn and often would buy the great grandkids kites to fly at family gatherings. Lucille loved the outdoors, spending both time and miles with her family in their RV, traveling across the United States. However, her greatest creation came in the form of a family meal or celebration. Preparing for these gatherings involved hours in the kitchen, with Lucille making meal after meal from scratch. Even with grandkids and great grandkids running around, she would make sure that each person at the table had one of their favorite things available to eat. It didn’t matter whether sweet potatoes went with dumplings; what was important to Lucille is that each member of her family felt special. If you were lucky, you’d get to sit next to Lucille at the table or in lawn chairs after the meal, trading witty remarks until your sides hurt from laughing. But what was certain was that you left Lucille’s house with a full stomach and an even fuller heart.
She is survived by her husband, Roy/DeWayne; 2 children: daughter, Donna and husband, Mike; daughter, Daphne and husband, Greg; 4 grandchildren: grandson, Justin and wife, Caty; granddaughter, Ashton and husband, Steven; granddaughter, Morgan and husband, Curt; granddaughter, Shelby and husband, Mark; 8 great grandchildren: great granddaughters, Kinleigh, Ellis, James, and Willa; great grandsons, Luke, Jude, Kent, and Gavin. She is also survived by 3 siblings: brother, Clyde and wife Ann; brother, Ed, and wife Nancy; and brother, Franklin, and wife Danna. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Nellie, and her sister, Betty.
