Wesley Cordell King, Jr.

It is with deep sorrow and steadfast faith in God's promises that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Wesley Cordell King Jr., who was called home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2025, at the age of 78.

Wesley was born on April 6, 1947, in Fort Worth, Texas to Cordell and Opal King.

In 1966, Wesley joined the U.S. Army, serving three years in the Armed Forces, including one year in Vietnam as a paratrooper with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. During his service, he was awarded the Army Meritorious Commendation Medal and the “V” for Valor Commendation Medal with a cluster. After completing his military service, Wesley became the co-owner of a Phillips 66 full-service gas station for 12 years. He later took over his father’s business, King & Son’s Inspection Station, where he continued the family legacy for 40 years.

Wesley loved his antique cars, especially his Model A, collecting treasures others might call junk, enjoyed spending time at swap meets, and most of all, cherished every moment he could on his tractor.

A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Wesley lived a life rooted in love, humility, and service to others. He was a devoted member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and sang in the church choir. He was known for his unwavering faith, kind heart, and generous, humorous spirit.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cordell King, Sr.; mother, Opal King; brother, John Paul King.

Wesley Cordell King Jr. was united in holy matrimony to Linda Hudson on June 22,1968 and for 57 years they built a loving home centered on faith and family. He is survived by wife Linda; sons, Stephen and wife Brandy, Matthew and wife Brandy; grandchildren Aden, Ryder, Cason, and Paislee King who will carry on his legacy.

Wesley also leaves behind sisters Carol Mitchell and husband Danny, and Sandra Benavides; many nieces and nephews; and a host of church members and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the assurance of eternal life through Jesus Christ. We rejoice in knowing that Wesley has entered into the joy of the Lord, where there is no more pain or sorrow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization close to the family's heart.

The family would like to thank all the church family and friends who have offered their prayers, love, and support throughout these past months. Your kindness has meant more than words can express.
