Rex Frank Wenger, of Mansfield, TX, formerly of Pawnee, OK, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the age of 89.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Skyvue Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10:30am Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Park Springs Bible Church, Arlington TX.
Burial: Skyvue Memorial Gardens, Mansfield, TX.
Rex was born on April 10, 1932 to Frank Wenger and Ruth Housh Wenger in Red Rock, OK. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma A&M College and went on to join the United Stated Air Force where he worked as an aircraft engineer. Rex married Opal Rose Wenger on November 22, 1969 in San Diego, CA and they were married for 37 wonderful years until her passing in 2007.
Rex worked for Bell Helicopter, General Dynamics and Vought Military Aircraft Companies. He also would volunteer through The Vought Heritage Foundation as a retired military aircraft engineer, to rebuild and restore historic military aircrafts that go to museums. Rex was loved by many, family and friends who became family. He dearly loved his church family at Park Springs Bible Church in Arlington, TX and the entire farmers market community and friends within the downtown Mansfield District. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Opal Wenger; parents, Frank and Ruth Wenger; granddaughter, Kerri Wenger; brother, Faye Wenger; sister, Leja Wenger.
Rex is survived by his daughter and her spouse, Becky and Tom Banks; son and his spouse, David and Erika Wenger; grandchildren and their spouses, Carson and AnnaClaire Banks, Noah and Sophie Banks, Braxton Banks, Riley Banks, Duncan Banks, Libbey Banks, Lincoln Banks, Joshua Wenger; and many other extended family members, church family, farmers market community and dear friends.
