Walter R. Scott Sr. a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the age of 85.

Born on July 23, 1938, in Dos Palos, CA, Walter's journey began and continued to blossom into a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

After completing his education at Monterey Bay Academy, Modesto Union Academy, and Oakdale High School, Walter embarked on a fulfilling career in Oil States Industries where he worked for 30+ years. His dedication, hard work, and expertise made him an invaluable member of the company. Walter's commitment to excellence and his unwavering loyalty left a mark on the organization he served.

But Walter's true legacy lies not just in his professional accomplishments but in the loving relationships he cultivated throughout his life. He married the love of his life, Betty Scott in December of 1967 in Fort Worth, Texas and together they created a beautiful life and family. Their marriage was a testament to their unwavering support and devotion to one another. They are now together, forever. 

Walter was a man who found joy in the simplest things in life. His warm personality and infectious silliness brought comfort and laughter into the lives of those around him. He had a heart overflowing with love that extended to his family and friends. It was this unconditional love that made him the pillar of strength for those who knew him.

His proudest accomplishment came not from professional success but from being surrounded by his grandchildren. Walter treasured every moment spent with them, watching them grow into remarkable individuals filled him with immense pride and joy.

Walter is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Scott; daughter, Julie Scott; parents, Ira and Bertha Scott; brother, Paul Scott; great-grandson Matthew Kyle Dakotaland.

He leaves behind cherished memories with his daughters, Donna Shaw (and her husband Pete Shaw), Sharon Scott; son Walter Jr., (and wife Jennifer Scott); grandchildren, David Land, Christina Land, Samantha Scott; great-grandchildren, Trista Randall, Chelsea Godsey; great-great-grandson, Joseph Ray Dakota Grant; sister Winona Howe (and her husband Vernon); and numerous nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

He touched the lives of many people during his journey, leaving behind precious memories that will be cherished forever. Walter was a dear friend, a loving husband, an adored father, and a doting grandfather. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation event has been scheduled to celebrate Walter's remarkable life. It will take place on August 22, 2023 at Skyvue Funeral Home in Mansfield, TX from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow the next day at the same location on August 23, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Walter will be laid to rest in eternal peace at 1801 Soda Springs Cemetery in Millsap, TX at 12:00 PM.
