Dr. Robert L. Wallace

August 31, 1938 — February 5, 2023

Dr. Robert L. Wallace, Jr. was born on August 31, 1938, to Robert and Louisa Wallace in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age. The Lord called him to preach in his twenties at which time he dedicated his life to ministry.

On June 20, 1964, he married the love of his life, Betty Richardson, and began his first full-time ministry.

After serving the Lord for eleven years in Oak Forest, Illinois, he was called to pastor Galilean Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, in 1975, where he served 22 years. The Lord led him to relocate Galilean Baptist Church to Cedar Hill, Texas, during his ministry there.

In 1997, he was called to Regency Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas, where he served as pastor until his health began to fail in 2018.

The two most important things to Pastor Bob were his ministry and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Louise, and his brother Jules (Bud).

He is survived by Betty Wallace, his wife of 58 years; his daughters Robin (Mike) Jones, Alayna Wallace, and Krista (James) Chapman; his grandchildren Stephanie (Josh) Davis, Nikki (Andy) Roy, Amy (Jake) Waide, Tyler (Tiffany) Jones, Julie Chapman, and Valerie Chapman; and his great-grandchildren, Chase, Kylee, Brooklynn, Hunter, Kinley, Hudson, Jet, Jack, Ellie, and Cash.

The day he went into the hospital for the last time, he read nine chapters in his Bible. His greatest desire was to preach the Bible again. In his dying hours, he was quoting Scriptures, loudly saying, “Jesus is the only way to heaven,” and singing “Jesus Loves Me” repeatedly.

God gently ushered him to Glory in his sleep. He had fought a good fight and finished his course. All of us who knew and loved him will miss him greatly, but we know we will see him again.

His life verses were Philippians 1:20-21 “...For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
