Virginia "Ginny" Schellenberg Graygor

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Virginia ‘Ginny’ Schellenberg Graygor, who went to be with the Lord on January 14, 2026, after a life marked by love, hard work, faith, and deep devotion to family and friends. She lived fully, loved deeply, and brought warmth and laughter wherever she went.

 Ginny was born in Dallas, Texas on June 4, 1947, and spent most of her childhood in the Oak Cliff neighborhood, which she remembered with great fondness throughout her life.

 She was the daughter of Albert and Margaret Schellenberg and grew up alongside her siblings: Fred, Mary Elizabeth, Jim, and Debbie. Ginny completed the final two years of high school at Ursuline Academy in SanAntonio, an experience that marked an important chapter in her young life.

After graduating from Ursuline Academy, she began her career as a flight attendant with Braniff Airlines, a role that allowed her to travel the United States. It was also during her time at Braniff, she met her husband, Connie Raygor, who she was married to for 21 years. She and Connie built asuccessful career in the custom home building business in Corpus Christi,Texas, on North Padre Island. There, she found great joy in fishing and boating,especially when shared with family and friends. During this time, she was active in Women in Construction, participated in the Padre Island Garden Club, and continued her education at Del Mar College.

After her children began college at Texas A&M University, Ginny moved to SanAntonio, where she worked for engineering firms, specializing in surveying. She was known as a dependable, capable professional who took pride in her work and the relationships she built along the way.

 In retirement, Ginny moved to Mansfield, Texas. She served on the Mansfield Historic Landmark Commission, completed the Mansfield Citizen Police Academy, and was a member of several Mansfield women’s groups. Her faith was an important part of her life; she was a member of First Methodist Churchof Mansfield, where she attended Bible study, and she also attended St. Jude Catholic Church. She remained socially and physically active through the Mansfield YMCA forming friendships that meant a great deal to her.

Above all else, Ginny was devoted to her family. She is survived by her son, Christopher Graygor, and his wife, Christine, of Mansfield, Texas; her daughter, Carley Graygor Alexander, and her husband, David, of Issaquah, Washington; and her four grandsons, William Graygor, Collin Alexander, Ryan Alexander, and Evan Alexander, who brought her immeasurable joy. Ginny is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Margaret Schellenberg, of San Antonio, and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Schellenberg Reed. She is also survived by her siblings, Fred Schellenberg and his wife, Margaret, of San Antonio; Fr James Schellenberg of San Antonio; Debbie Schellenberg Peters and her husband, Gordon, of San Antonio; along with nieces, Marisa Campbell, Patricia Lewis, and Mary Helen Newhouse and nephews, James Peters and Frit Schellenberg, and many great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends. These people made her life so very happy. 

Her self-proclaimed greatest accomplishment was also her greatest gift: her son, Chris, and her daughter, Carley. She loved her children with all of her heart and loved her grandsons to the moon and back. Ginny loved well. She had a kind and generous heart, a big, joyful laugh, and a way of making people feel welcome and cared for. Her love will continue to be felt through the many lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind in Corpus Christi, two causes close to her heart. 

Memorial service will be held on February 7, 2026, at 11:00am at St. PaulCatholic Church, 350 Sutton Dr, San Antonio, Texas 78228, with a reception tofollow at the church.
