Verna Jean Jamerson

Jul 4, 1948 — May 12, 2026

With profound reverence and heartfelt sorrow, we mourn the passing of Verna Jean Jamerson, a beloved daughter of Marshall, Texas, whose life journey commenced on July 4, 1948, and gracefully concluded in Fort Worth, Texas, on the twelfth day of May 2026. Her narrative is one woven with devotion, resilience, and unwavering commitment—a testament to a woman whose presence enriched all who were privileged to know her.

Born into the nurturing arms of Clearance L. Ned and Lula Mae (Laffall) Waites, Verna's early years in Marshall laid the foundation for a life marked by purpose and dignity. She pursued her formative education at Pinkston High of Dallas, Texas, where her spirit of inquiry and enthusiasm for learning took root. This foundation blossomed into a commendable career with Fort Worth Independent School District, where Verna dedicated herself to the noble cause of education, leaving indelible impressions on countless students and colleagues through her steadfast dedication.

Verna’s devotion extended beyond her professional endeavors. She was a cherished member of Holyway Baptist Church of Fort Worth, a sanctuary where her faith found expression and where she nurtured a profound spiritual communion. Her passions were as vibrant and varied as the seasons of her life—tender moments in her garden, the serene joy of gardening, and the enriching experiences gleaned through traveling and sightseeing unveiled new vistas to her ever-curious and appreciative soul.

Her familial bonds were both rich and enduring. Verna leaves behind a tapestry of living loved ones who will carry her memory forward with affection and honor. Among her treasured siblings are Gloridene Web of Dallas, Texas; Marion Stevens and her husband Cedric of Corsicana, Texas; Joplin Thaddeus Ned of Dallas, Texas; and Shronda Young and her husband Robert of Houston, Texas. Her legacy is further perpetuated through her children—Martin J. Ned and his wife Yolanda residing in Ramstein, Germany; Tommy G. Ned and his wife Sheryl of Midlothian, Texas; Milton West and his wife Roslyn of Fort Worth, Texas; Kenneth E. West of Everman, Texas; and Lisa Edwards of Fort Worth, Texas. The loving embrace of her family extends to thirty-four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, each a vibrant thread in the fabric of her enduring legacy.

Verna’s passage from this earthly realm follows that of her husband, Joseph P. Jaamerson, parents, Clearance L. Ned and Lula Mae (Laffall) Waites, as well as siblings Clearance L. Ned Jr., Phillip C. Ned, and Edward C. Ned, whose memories she carries tenderly in her heart.

As we bid farewell to Verna Jean Jamerson, we celebrate not only a life well-lived but a soul that touched earth lightly yet left footprints of grace, love, and unyielding spirit. Her memory endures, a beacon of inspiration and a source of solace for all who knew her. May she rest eternally in peace, cradled by the boundless love she so generously bestowed upon the world.
