ARLINGTON -- Hal Eugene Vaughn left this earth peacefully to join his heavenly Father on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the age of 83.
Service: 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Everman. Interment: Everman Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Skyvue Funeral Home.
Hal was born March 9, 1933, to Delbert Samuel and Atha Davilla Vaughn at their home in Everman. Hal, nicknamed Toodles by family and friends, was a true country boy at heart. After graduating as valedictorian of the Everman High School class of 1953, he served in the United States Army earning an honorable discharge in 1955. Those who knew Hal best remember him as a very loyal man, something that was most evident to his coworkers at Union Pacific Railroad where he retired after a 43-year career characterized by hard work, integrity and firm friendships.
Hal was baptized on Oct. 28, 1962, at First Baptist Church, Everman, where he served as a faithful lifetime member. He raised three sons and looked forward to Sunday dinners, old-fashioned singalongs, and attending the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo as a family. Hal was always ready to enjoy a bowl of homemade ice cream, pick up a game of 42, and share a story of times past with anyone prepared to listen.
Survivors: His sons, Dee, Derek and Davy and their wives; brother, D.S. Vaughn Sr.; grandchildren, Krystal, Dillon, Laney and Dawson who affectionately called him "Papa"; great-grandson, Camden; and several nieces and nephews.
