Sherry Ann Shelby has gone to be with the Lord on April 29, 2025, at the age of 79.
Sherry was born on October 3, 1945, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Mary Louise Barton and Robert Hector Shelby. Sherry attended catholic school for a period of her childhood, later returning to earn her GED from Texas Christian University. She was a cook for many different restaurants, worked as a construction worker for Fox and Jacob Homes, and performed various jobs as an independent contractor before retiring. She truly was a jack of all trades. Sherry loved music, reading, and sharing God's word whenever and wherever she could.
Sherry was a beloved mother and woman, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. While she may not have been perfect, she was the best mother anyone could ask for. Sherry dedicated her life to her children, always striving to provide love and support the best way she knew how.
Sherry's strength and resilience were evident in how she faced life's challenges. She taught her children the importance of compassion, hard work, and perseverance. Though life was not always easy, Sherry approached each day with a smile and an unwavering spirit.
Sherry's legacy will live on through the countless memories shared with her family. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her love and dedication as a mother.
A private memorial will be held at a later time.
Those welcoming Sherry into Heaven are her parents, Mary Barton and Robert Shelby; her son, Darren Bowie; her granddaughter, Tornisha Shelby; her sister, Marva Stevenson; her brothers, David Shelby and Kimeo Cranny; her son-in-law, Charles Seay.
Those left to cherish Sherry's memory, her daughters, Sharon and Duane Whaley, Karen Seay, Wendy Barton, Cheryl Barton, Amberley Shelby-Leiva and Martin Leiva; her sons, Gary and Kari Shelby, Ronald Bowie, and Mark Shelby; her sisters, Louise Guy and Jeanette Shelby; her brothers, Christopher Shelby, Larry Shelby, Dewayne Shelby, and Kenneth Barton; her 23 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
