SHAWN ALLEN KIRBY

Sunrise: AUGUST 9, 1968 - Sunset: MAY 29, 2025

MATHEW 5:5 “Blessed are the MEEK for they shall inherit the Earth.”

Shawn was always a meek child and grew into a meek man. The Greek definition of Meek (praus) translates to gentle, mild, or humble. It is associated with the idea of strength under control. Shawn grew into a man whose demeanor was one of observing and innately knowing that kindness was the best choice in all situations.

He played quietly by himself as a child, and as he was a teenager he took up photography and had his own dark room. His Dad was into dirt track racing, and he developed a love of racing. He took many photos of the race cars. Shawn was also full of joy. He had a great sense of humor and found something funny in all things. He could well have been a comedian.

As an adult, he had several jobs, but he fell in love with plants at an early age and worked for Calloway’s for 15 years. He was known for bringing the throw away plants home and reviving them to beautiful blooms. Shawn most recently worked at Dr. Delphinium, an upscale floral company located in Dallas, as a Green Technician. During his tenure there, Shawn had been providing interior landscaping for high-end clientele for almost 2 years. He really enjoyed this job. His love of God’s creation was evident in his landscaping and gardening ideas and designs. He was a natural born horticulturalist and easily familiar with various designs and techniques. Shawn was also able to cultivate tranquility through the art of Bonsai. The process of nurturing a bonsai tree is a meditative journey that requires patience, care and an attuned connection to nature. As you trim branches, wire the tree, and shape its form, you become intimately connected to the life force within the miniature tree. It takes a special one to foster this ideology. Shawn was indeed a special one.

Shawn was a member of the Texas Nursery and Landscaping Association. He enjoyed mostly going to the Dallas Arboretum and Fort Worth Botanical Gardens

His other interests were Nascar, Indy, and Dirt Racing. He had a special talent organizing Haunted Houses with his Sister, Letitia, and Cousin Kim. He was also famous for his 4th of July Fireworks Show and there were 500 people at his last one. He loved collecting comic books, rare stamps, coins, and racing memorabilia.

Shawn met his Life Love and Partner, Fran, over 20 years ago. She has brought purpose and so much love to him over the years. Her devotion to him through this past year and a half through his sickness, has sustained his life so that we all may be able to have another year with him. Her love for him and his love for her were extraordinary. She added to his world and to his life as a partner and soul mate. He saw in her the strength of her testimony and commitment to others that he so admired.

He is preceded in death by his four grandparents who have welcomed him home.

Shawn is survived by his wife, Fran Kirby; son, Richard; parents, Judy and Tommy Kirby; sister, Letitia Viers and her husband Ray; one aunt, one uncle, nieces and great nieces and a host of cousins who love him dearly and grew up with him as their Brother.

May our Heavenl Father hold him in his hands and bless him for his love of this Earth and for his Meekness throughout his life.
