Wayne Scanlon, 65, of Fort Worth, Texas lost his battle with cancer and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Wayne was born on September 12, 1956 to Joan and John Thomas Scanlon II, of Stamford, Connecticut. Later the family moved to Cannon Beach, Oregon and then to Priest River, Idaho where he met his wife Linda of 39 years.

Wayne went into the army from 1973-1975 and then studied at Felts Field Airplane Mechanics school from 1976-1978 where he met his lifelong friend Bruce Clayburn and his wife Gayanne.

Wayne and Linda were married on March 19, 1982. They lived in Vernal, Utah for 2 years where they had their son Alan Scanlon. From there they moved to Fort Worth, Texas where their two daughters were born, Michelle Scanlon and Jennifer Vidal. Wayne and his sister JoAnn Nichols opened up Desert Steel Co Inc. in 1990 where they worked together for 30 years. Wayne always had a project going on. He had a very creative mind and loved bringing it to life. He was a very talented man.

Wayne is survived by his wife Linda, son, Alan Scanlon (Sarah), daughter, Michelle Scanlon (Fabian), daughter, Jennifer (Aaron) Vidal and his grandchildren, Allana, Talan and Matthew. He was also survived by his sister JoAnn Nichols, his sister Kathy & Richard Zobell, his brother, Jack & Barb Scanlon, his brother Jeff & Rhonda Scanlon, his brother-in-law Jeff Robinson and brother-in-law Brian & Christi Robinson and many nieces and nephews.

Wayne loved the ocean, pirates, and pirate ships. He loved being a dad and a grandpa (AKA Popeye). He loved taking his family to the lake boating and skiing. He loved playing with the grandkids on their swing set and their fort. He also loved playing water volleyball with the kids and his grandkids in the pool. He also spent many hours helping his sister in dog rescue building kennels and runs and doing transport.

Wayne was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

The Scanlon family has asked flowers to be sent to their house by their loved ones that know their address or can be sent to the location of the memorial service.
