Rosie Dean Mayes

December 7, 1949 — October 2, 2023

Fort Worth, Texas

Rosie Dean Mayes, lovingly known as "Puddin,” peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, October 2, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 73.

Puddin was born on December 7, 1949, to the loving embrace of her mother, Rosie Lee Mayes, in Elaine, Arkansas. Her journey in life began in Drew, Mississippi, where she blossomed into a brilliant mind, earning the title of valedictorian of Hunter High School's class of '67. Her thirst for knowledge led her to Coahoma Jr College and Jackson State University, where she pursued studies in Mathematics.

In August 1970, Puddin embraced motherhood and welcomed her beloved son, Reginald "Reggie" Mayes, into the world in Ruleville, Mississippi. This marked the beginning of her adventure as a devoted mother. Together, they embarked on a new chapter, relocating to the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois. It was here that Puddin began her remarkable 30-year career in Data Management.

Puddin was a pillar of strength and love in the lives of her family and friends. Her thoughtfulness and generosity knew no bounds, and she went above and beyond to care for her loved ones. In her precious moments of leisure, she found joy in reading books, challenging word puzzles, and cheering on contestants on her favorite game shows. Puddin possessed a quick wit and a unique sense of humor that had the power to brighten the darkest of days. Her caring and genuine spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Puddin leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, survived by her devoted son, Reginald Mayes, and his wife, Angela, her loving sisters, Daaiyah Najeeulah and Jennifer Mayes, her adored granddaughter, Malikha Mayes, her close cousin, Betty Jean Coleman, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom held special places in her heart.

She is now reunited in eternal peace with her beloved mother, Rosie Lee Mayes, and her dear brothers, Jimmy Lee Mayes and Melvin Lee Mayes, along with her nephew Derex Mayes.
