Robert (Bob) F. Hawley, PhD (1951-2026)

Robert Francis Hawley passed away on June 7th 2026, at the age of 75. He was born on February 21, 1951, in Cambridge, Massachusetts and was, of course, a passionate devotee to the Boston Red Sox. He graduated from New Mexico State University in 1974, and went on to earn a PhD from the University of Texas at Arlington in the year 2000.

Bob worked for Coldspring Granite as a sales manager for nearly 30 years where he built many long lasting relationships with clients and co-workers alike. He is remembered for his honesty, trustworthiness and his unwavering sense of humor.

Dr. Hawley was also a respected educator and researcher at the University of Texas at Arlington. He has contributed extensively as a professor, researcher and adjunct faculty member, focusing on Social Work, Urban Affairs and Public Policy. Most importantly, he loved to teach.

He loved the game of golf, moreover, he loved the friends he made while playing the game. He liked to work with his hands and built beautiful chairs and benches for the yard. He was active in his community; serving on the Fort Worth Building Standards Commission, as a board member of the Presbyterian Night Shelter, and as a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

Every year he traveled with two of his friends to explore a different city for a few days. In the summer, he spent time in Chama, New Mexico fishing with his long time friend TJ.

He loved his family, and adored his children and grandchildren. His family loved him deeply and is devastated by his sudden absence. His sense of humor and fun, his wisdom and his love will be sorely missed. We will remember the Sunday dinners and family excursions to New Mexico. In the end, we are grateful that we could be there for each other.

Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Teri (LeBlanc) Hawley, his daughter, Makenzie Carpenter (Cathy), his son, Conor Hawley, his grandchildren; Robert, Matthew and Kaden; his sister Barbara Evans (David), nieces, Holly and LeAnne, nephew, BJ; his cousin, Kevin Kunz and wife Barbara and many cherished extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. Hawley and Rita Veronica (Horrigan) Hawley, and his eldest sister, Jean Marie Hawley.

A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family would welcome donations in his name to the American Red Cross: American Red Cross Tribute Giving
