Ricky Lavoid Robertson Sr.

May 22, 1959 — August 25, 2025

Ricky Lavoid Robertson Sr. passed away August 28, 2025, at the age of 66.

Rick was born on May 22nd, in 1959 to Herbert & Delores Robertson. This revival focused family traveled thousands of miles proclaiming the gospel throughout the us...as a young boy under H.O Robertson's many tent revivals throughout various cities, Rick discovered his love for music!

As an incredibly gifted musician, he would go on to become a highly proficient gospel pianist and organist. This spark never faded throughout the years but only grew into a passionate love for all forms of music. But let's be honest, Rock n roll, was his listening vice. AKA, the EAGLES.

Rick's life took an unexpected turn towards destiny in his early twenties, when he met the love of His life Debbie, on New Year’s Eve of 1981, through a family friend. He was so awestruck, and crazy in love, the dude proposed the first night they met! However, his cold feet would get the best of him down the road...they dated for two years, and Debbie was "let's just say," a little tired of him dragging his feet.

After a couple years of steady dating, she was ready to get on with it, so she decided to make a drastic life change, and went to sign up for the army...but just as she was about to sign the dotted line, she heard some crazy commotion outside the door...Rick had ran after her, parked his crane truck in the middle of a busy intersection, ran into the recruiting office, and begged for another chance at forever...and as destiny would have it, she said YES, and the rest is history... 42 years later, they have fought for love, legacy, and family...it wasn't easy, but they held on to each other through every storm life through their way…

Rick was a very successful business owner of over 30+years. Starting his own business from the ground up, he successfully scaled the sign market, becoming one of the top manufacturing & installation companies in the DFW. His creative eye, and love for building what many said couldn't be done, fueled his passion for quality products and design.

As most would tell you, Rick truly lived with a huge generous heart, in all things. Although sometimes his temper would flare, he could see the potential in just about anything or anyone. Rick loved big, and he loved deep. He cherished his family greatly. His wife, children, and extended family. His large family was his pride and joy. His dad, mom, brothers and sisters, meant the world to him. He believed it was important to preserve your history and keep your family bonds strong.

Now, like many of us he wasn't perfect, but He pursued a relationship with Jesus. Throughout many of the same doubts, disappoints, and fears we face today, he leaned deeply into His faith. Sometimes he had to fight through it tooth and nail, but Rick was always aware, that the presence of God is real, powerful, and always near.

Rick attended First Assembly of God in Joshua Texas, and had a great joy and love for music, westers and old cars.

Herbert Oliver Robertson Sr. has welcomed Rick to his Heavenly home.
