Reuben Edward “Ed” Pyle was a family man - not just a man with a family but a man who truly lived for his family. He worked for them, he sacrificed for them and even learned new trades simply to provide for them. Ed Pyle, 75, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away in Mansfield Texas on February 21, 2026.
He was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, in 1950 to Rayburn Graham Pyle, Jr and Ruby Millie Foote. His Father instilled in him a love of learning, often teaching him about flowers and trees and taking frequent trips to museums. His Mother filled his childhood summers with trips to Uncle JB’s beach cabin. Sadly, she became ill and passed away just before Ed turned fifteen.
Ed graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in business. His career eventually led him to Camden Arkansas, where he lived and worked for many years. He used his degree to serve in various management roles and continued working faithfully until his passing.
Through every hardship in life, Ed provided for and loved his wife and family selflessly and with integrity. He taught his family the importance of a relationship with Jesus - to give even when it doesn’t make sense, to love even when it is hard, to trust God in adversity, and to forgive because that is what Jesus did. He modeled perseverance, discipline and faithfulness.
Ed met the love of his life, Kathy, in 1970 while working for her father. Eager to begin their life together, they were married in 1971 in her parents’ home in Choudrant, Louisiana.
Ed and Kathy began their family in 1973. Their children - Jonathan, Jason and Janice - meant the world to him. He would work long hours, volunteer at sporting events by running the scoreboard, then come home to get down on the floor and play with his children or watch a movie together as a family. He left a legacy of leadership - not of position or title but of action and example. Ed was not perfect, but he continually strived to reflect the love and grace of God as led his family.
While he loved being husband and father, his favorite role was “Pappaw”. He treasured his time with his grandchildren: Jordan, Sarah, Nathan, Jared, Tristan and Ari, who were his pride and joy. He was blessed to welcome great-grandchildren Brooks and Levi into the world. As he was prepared to say goodbye, he sent a kiss to his newest great-grandbabies, Brody and Ellie.
Anyone who knew Ed knew he loved a good movie, dessert (especially oatmeal cookies), and breakfast - on time or anytime. He will be remembered for his commitment to God, his dedication to family and his deep love for his wife. We will always picture him saying “Rise and Shine” and starting pillow fights in the living room. We could not have asked for a better husband, father, Pappaw and friend. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rayburn Pyle and Ruby Foote and his brother Ray.
He is survived by his beloved wife Kathy Pyle; his son Jonathan Pyle and wife Julie, his son Jason Pyle and wife Nicole, his daughter Janice Russell and husband Andrew; grandchildren Jordan Graham and husband William, Sarah Cobillas and husband Michael, Nate Pyle and wife Claire, Jared Pyle and wife Laynie, Tristan Russell, and Ari Russell; his great grandchildren Brooks, Levi, Brody and Ellie; sister Beverly Tolbert and husband Michael, brother Steve Pyle and wife Susan, and his sister Cathy O’berg and husband Gary.
