Minister Gregory Earl Reed Sr., 63, passed away on November 2, 2022.

Wake: 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, November 11, 2022, at Skyvue Funeral Home.
Graveside service: 10:00 am Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Skyvue Memorial Gardens.

Gregory, the youngest of seven children, was born to Theodore Reed Sr. and Gladys Reed in Fort Worth, Texas on June 27, 1959.

Gregory began his former academic pursuits at Carroll Peak Elementary, Morningside Middle and Paschal High School. He later attended TCC South Campus, formerly known as TCJC, where he received his Associates Degree.

Gregory attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a certificate in Biblical and Theological Studies. He became an ordained minister on March 25, 2003. Greg loved to minister to others and had the heart of a servant. Because of his winning smile and charismatic personality, he never met a stranger. To know Greg was to “Love Greg.”

Gregory was an entrepreneur and opened several businesses. Hit City Records in 1986 with four locations and Gladys’ Soul Food in 1995. He was a master certified chef who loved to cook. For many years he worked for H&R Block and was a professional tax preparer. He also worked at the Marriott Hotel as Chief Engineer. He was a former member of the Fort Worth Black Chamber of Commerce. His favorite hobbies were working on cars, DIY projects, yard work and listening to music.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Gladys Reed Sr.; grandparents, Earl Reed and Delia (Oliver) Reed, Nona Mae Taylor and GB Reese; siblings, Deborah K. Reed, Barbara Adams, Theodore Reed Jr.;grandson, Harold Henderson II.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Karen Reed; daughters, Demetra Lewis and husband Antonio, Alexus Reed, Rachael Reed and husband James; son, Gregory Reed Jr.; godson, James Christopher; sisters, Beverly Winston and husband Curtis, Stephanie Boone; brothers, Ronald Reed Sr. and wife Cynthia, Richard (Dickey-Doo) Reese; grandchildren, Symphony, Trinity, Antonio Jr., Demetri, Kivante, Gevonta, Gregory III, Keshauna, Darneshia, Caisea and Chellsea; great grandchildren, Mesiah, Zion, Tinslee, Tylee, Keyanna, Karina, E’Mani, Treazure and Terrell; many nieces and nephews, extended family members and loving friends.
