Ramona Russum

September 3, 1969 — February 4, 2026

Ramona Russum, born on September 3, 1969, in the quaint town of Bloomsbury, Pennsylvania, left this world on February 4, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. A vibrant spirit with an unwavering dedication to her community, Ramona's life was characterized by a profound connection to those around her, enlivened by her diverse career and her passions for reading, poetry, country music, and her Christian faith.

A proud graduate of Mesquite High School, Ramona actively pursued further education in psychology, seeking to understand and connect with others on a deeper level. Her professional journey traversed various roles, including her commitment to the Dallas Zoo, a notable museum in Dallas, a candy factory, and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). In each endeavor, she embodied a spirit of service and enthusiasm that endeared her to colleagues and patrons alike.

Among those who cherished her deeply were her beloved daughter, Mary Russum; her devoted brother, Michael Russum; and her vibrant niece, Sunny Griggs. They were her sources of joy and pride, and she worked tirelessly to nurture them with the love that defined her.

Ramona’s life was enriched by the meaningful relationships she cultivated. Special acknowledgment must be given to Sue, her Sunday school teacher, who undoubtedly felt like a mother to Ramona, offering guidance and comfort throughout the years. Jerome, a steadfast friend, went out of his way to check on her, his kindness emblematic of the compassion Ramona so embodied. Furthermore, her entire church congregation at Oak View Baptist Church, a steadfast presence in her life for over two decades, provided unwavering support, accentuating the sense of community that Ramona so cherished.

As we mourn the loss of Ramona Russum, we also celebrate the indelible mark she has left on the hearts of many. Her memory will continue to resonate through her loved ones, her contributions to her community, and the warmth of her spirit that shall never be forgotten. Ramona is now reunited in peace with her mother, Neoma Russum; her father, John Russum; her brother, Martin Griggs; and her dear friend, Dr. Gilliam, all of whom await her in eternal grace.
