Melvadeen is preceded in death by her mother, Kathaleen Johnson; father, Jessie Johnson; granddaughter, Ja'Priese Platt and her loving husband, James T. Platt.
She is survived by her daughters, Janet Marie Platt, Kaylynn Platt; grandchildren, Michael Nelson, K'eisha Nelson; 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and many loved adopted children.
