Phyllis Ann Barrett Cox

Phyllis Ann Barrett Cox has peacefully made her earthly departure on April 26, 2026, at the age of 78.

Phyllis was born on January 18, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Ernestine and James Barrett, Sr. She graduated from M.L. Kirkpatrick High School in 1966. She went on to earn her Bachelor's in History, with a minor in education, from Huston-Tillotson University in 1970, later earning her Master's in Liberal Arts from Texas Christian University in 2006. She gave 25 years of faithful service to Tarrant County College and dedicated her life to teaching and education.

Phyllis's Family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and Memory Care for all their care and support during her stay there.

Those to greet Phyllis with open arms are her mother, Ernestine Hill and her father and stepmother, James Barrett, Sr. and Jessie Barrett; her brother, Errol Barrett.

Those left to cherish Phyllis's memory are her daughter, Kamala; her sisters, Judy Hall, Marcia Barrett, and Michelle Barrett-Grays; her brothers, James Barrett, Jr., Mark Barrett, and Michael Barrett; her grandchildren, David Johnson, Jadyn Johnson, and Haleigh Johnson; her special niece, Kandy Hall, along with many other loving nieces and nephews, family members, and friends.
