Opal Luella King on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the age of 100 years and 8 months, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior.
She was born July 15, 1923 to Clovis and Lulu Maude Haston.
at the age of 12 or 13, upon the death of her mother, Opal helped to raise her siblings, Betty and Bessie (Twins), Boyd and Marvin. Opal married Cordell Wesley King on October 10, 1939. They had four children, Wesley, Sandra, Corol and John Paul. Opal was a homemaker and a strong Christian wife and mother who raised her children in the ways of the Lord. She and Cordell were active in their church where she worked for years in the nursery caring for precious babies. In their retirement years, Cordell and Opal enjoyed their antique store in Walnut Springs and traveling the country searching for coal oil lamps.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Cordell; and son, John Paul.
Opal is survived by one sister, Bessie Marto, of Greenbay, Wisconsin; daughters, Carol Mitchell and husband Danny Ray, Sandra Benavides; son Wesley and wife Linda. Grandchildren, Christopher Gerald Bryan, Jennifer Billman and husband Ben, John Hudson Bryan and wife Amy, Rebecca Wells and husband Michael, Danny Winters and wife Alisha, Stephen King and wife Brandy, Matthew King and wife Brandy, and Mica Renee Ray; Twenty-seven great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Aleve care Hospice, Pecan Manor nursing home of Kennedale and Hospice Plus for the love and care given to Opal and her family.
