We are here today to celebrate the homegoing of Oneta E. Thomas. She was born to Belvie and Hosey Eddington on January 7, 1932, in Quitman, Texas.
Later in life, she married Earnest Thomas, Sr., on March 15, 1969, and both were faithful and dedicated members at Strangers Rest Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, where she found solace in serving as a Sunday School Teacher and on the Mission Board, embodying her faith through service and compassion. While working a full-time job, she retired after 30 years of service. After becoming ill, she moved to City View Nursing Center where she resided for the past four years with a very caring and loving staff whom she loved dearly. She was called home on Monday May 6, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Belvie and Hosey Eddington; brothers, Herthen I. Eddington, Buford C. Eddington, and Monnie Q. Gilliam; and her son, Emerson Q. Wade.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Earnest Thomas, Sr.; daughter, Gwendolyn (Michael) Henson, bonus children, Susan Milledge, Earnest (Debra) Thomas, Jr., Douglas Thomas, and Eddie (Rhonda) Thomas; grandchildren, Erica Robinson-Kennedy and Garry L. Robinson; bonus grandchildren, Tiffanie Reed, Stephanie (Caleb) Mitchell, Melanie (John) Crane, Earnest (Cierra) Thomas III, Muriel (Jerrod) Pritchard, KaRa Milledge, Okoye (Charvae) Milledge, Catie (Eric) Trejo, Stephen (April) Lee; niece, Alicia Thompson and nephew, Manuel (Shawnette) Gilliam; Sister cousin, Leatrice Mason.
She also leaves to mourn a host of other relatives and friends.
