Nancy Carol Furlich, born on August 3, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, departed this world on September 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, and indomitable spirit. A cherished member of her community, Nancy enriched the lives of many, both personally and professionally, with a career that spanned various roles, including serving as the Secretary at Northside Elementary, and contributing to Cedar's Hospital and Texas Oncology.

Nancy’s educational journey began at East High School, where foundations were laid for her future endeavors. She imbibed a love for life and learning that would guide her through the various paths she would tread. In matters of the heart, she is remembered for her enduring love story with her husband, Michael Furlich, whom she married on August 13, 1960, in Cleveland. Together, they nurtured a loving family that celebrated the virtues of closeness and understanding.

A devoted mother, Nancy leaves behind her daughter, Lisa Stewart, and son-in-law, Rex Stewart; her sons, Michael John Furlich and daughter-in-law, Sara Furlich, and John Furlich alongside his spouse, Carol Furlich. The bonds of love extend to her sister-in-law, Barbara Kristoff, and brother-in-law, Mark Kristoff, as well as her brothers-in-law Albert Furlich and his wife Elaine, and Charles Furlich with his spouse Mary Jane.

Placed at the heart of her family were her beloved grandchildren: Nathan and Samantha Stewart, and Sally and Blake Proctor, alongside Rachel and Elizabeth Furlich. Nancy also shared the joys of her life with dear nieces Darlene Bartlett, Aimee DeChant, Maurine Marino, and Iris Kristoff, as well as nephews Ken Furlich, Jeffrey Furlich, Charles Furlich, Steven Furlich, and Bart Kristoff. Moreover, her circle included treasured friends, such as Laura Dooley, Bonnie Stevens, Janet Pike, Holly Otey, and Judy Rahal, who will hold her memory fondly.

Throughout her life, Nancy was driven by her passions, which encompassed traveling, sewing, painting, and participating in water aerobics, bunco games, and book club discussions. Her zest for life and vibrant personality made her the heart and soul of all gatherings, where she effortlessly brought joy and laughter.

In recognition of her impactful contributions, Nancy was honored as the DeSoto Woman of the Year in 1977, a testament to her remarkable influence and commitment to her community. Her faith remained a cornerstone of her being, as she attended the Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith, drawing strength from her beliefs while fostering a sense of togetherness among those around her.

Nancy is preceded in death by her father, Daniel Hayes; her mother, Clara Hayes; and her brother, David Hayes. As her family and friends gather to celebrate her life, they will find solace in the memories shared and the love she instilled in each of them.

Visitation will be held on September 16, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Skyvue Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas, followed by a Funeral Service the next day at 10:00 AM. She will be laid to rest during a burial ceremony at Skyvue Memorial Gardens on September 17, 2025, at 11:15 AM.
