FORT WORTH -- John M. Moncrief, 71, passed away at a local hospital after a brief battle with pneumonia on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016.
Burial: Private. Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the House of Hope in Crowley, Texas or a charity of choice.
John was born March 10, 1945, to T.A. and Bessie Moncrief in Alexander, Texas. He spent his childhood with 12 siblings in Dublin, Texas and worked at Sunset Cafe before joining the Army.
John married Linda Murry in 1969. He worked at Greyhound Bus Lines for 15 years before starting his own company, J&M Home Builders Inc. He built over 1,200 custom homes, churches, businesses and a funeral home before retiring in 2011. John also spent many years as a director for Community Bank.
Survivors: John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda; sons, Thomas Moncrief (Crystal) and Torrey Moncrief (Colleen); daughter, Sonia Leverett (Gary); grandchildren, Larry Moncrief, Alex Orange, Tyler, Cassidy and Caden Moncrief, Chance and J.T. Leverett; along with numerous other loving family and friends.
