John Paul Mestas

June 29, 1976 — February 7, 2022

John Paul Mestas of Burleson, TX, formerly of El Paso, TX, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the age of 45.

Visitation: 6-8pm Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Skyvue Funeral Home with a Rosary Service to begin at 7:00pm. Funeral Service: 10:00am Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Burleson, TX. Interment: Skyvue Memorial Gardens.

John was born on June 29, 1976 to Christine Aguilar Mestas and Leonardo Alfonso Mestas in El Paso, TX.
He attended Hill College and was a proud veteran of the United States Army and the United States Air Force Reserves. John was currently a member of the Double Oak Police Department, where he began working in November of 2021. Before joining Double Oak, John also served his community for 15 years through Somervell County Sherriff’s Department, Tarrant County Hospital District, Johnson County Sherriff’s Department, and Hillsboro Police Department.

John was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Burleson. In his free time he loved to go golfing with friends, grilling for family at cook outs, watching WWE Wrestling and having fun with his family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Christine Mestas; father, Leonardo Mestas; nephew, Justin Sarmiento.

John is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary Mestas; daughters, Araceli Marie, Alexis Christina and Adriana Justine Mestas; son, Andrew Michael Mestas; sisters and their spouses, Alma and Rudy Lira, Patricia Guthrie; brothers and their spouses, David Mestas, Eleazar and Juana Mendoza, Josue and Alicia Alvarez, Edward Guthrie; nieces Brenda Farrington, Melissa Lira, Anna Mestas, Davina Mestas, Jessica Sarmiento, Mandi Montanez, Emma Alvarez, Adriana Mendoza, Isabel Mendoza, Brittany Guthrie; nephews, Nicholas Sarmiento, Cody Sarmiento, Vinson Minas, Ivan Montanez, Ethan Montanez, David Mestas Jr., Vincent Alvarez, Antonio Mendoza, Donovan Guthrie; and numerous other extended family members and caring friends.
