Melissa Stewart, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on January 17, 2026, at the age of 62. Born in Fort Worth, Texas on July 31, 1963, Melissa's journey through life was marked by her deep love for family, her passion for photography, and her thoughtful journaling.
Melissa's formative years were spent in Granbury, where she graduated as a proud member of the class of '84 at Granbury High School. Her heart was forever woven into the fabric of her family’s lives. She married her cherished husband, Terry R. Stewart, on March 29, 1998, in Fort Worth—a union that brought immense joy and fulfillment to both their lives. Together they fostered a warm and loving home, instilling values of togetherness and love in their children.
She found unparalleled joy in watching her grandchildren, Scarlett I. Rose, Vincent A. Rose, and Robin M. Stewart, flourish. Melissa was happiest when surrounded by family, skillfully capturing moments through the lens of her camera while also tending to her beloved journals, chronicling the beautiful tapestry of her everyday life and the milestones of those she adored.
Melissa is survived by her devoted husband, Terry R. Stewart; her daughter, Kaylee R. Rose, and her husband Vance T. Rose; her son, Charles W. Stewart; her sister, Michelle Pelton and her husband Scott Pelton; her brother, Glenn Utter; her grandchildren; nieces Rachel Reynolds and her husband Colby, Carren Matej and her husband Alexander, Sarah Linson, Rebecca Franklin and her husband William, Megan Stewart; and nephews John Linson and his wife Tiffani, Matthew Maples and his wife Cammy, and Marshal Stewart. Also fondly remembered is her special friend, Tina Thompson.
Notably, Melissa is preceded in death by her mother, Sande Utter; her father, Oscar Sven Utter; her brother, Wesley Utter; her niece, Lisa Utter Lewis; her grandson, Raydn Rose; her aunt Marguerite Utter; her uncle, Charles Utter; and her grandparents, including Mary Katherine and J.W. Copeland, Svea and Bror Utter, and her grandfather, Jack Couch.
The legacy of Melissa Stewart will forever linger in the hearts of those she left behind, illuminating their lives with her love and spirit. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate her remarkable life during the visitation on January 29, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Skyvue Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas, followed by a funeral service to honor her life on January 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the same location.
