In Loving Memory of
Marquel Antonio O’Neal Sr., 55, of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026. He was born on May 8, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee.
Marquel was a graduate of Westside High School, where he also played football. His love for football continued throughout his life, and he was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also enjoyed wrestling and the excitement and entertainment it brought.
Marquel was a man who believed in matching from head to toe. His appearance and personal style were important to him, and he knew how to put an outfit together. But what truly made Marquel special was not what he wore—it was the integrity, love, wisdom, and care he carried within him.
He was a loving man of integrity, wise in his words and genuine in his relationships. He had a way of making his presence known and leaving an impression on the people around him. To those who knew and loved him, Marquel was more than a husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and friend—he was family, and he will be deeply missed.
On August 30, 2020, Marquel married the love of his life, Carla A. Warren O’Neal. Their marriage began right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, making their commitment to one another even more meaningful. Together, they shared a love and a bond that will forever remain a treasured part of Carla’s life.
Marquel leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Carla A. Warren O’Neal; his children, Marquisha A. O’Neal and Marquel A. O’Neal Jr.; Kim, Davonte, Justin, Brandon, and Shantel and his grandchildren, Anaya Hamilton, Serenity Gary, and Marquel “Tre” A. O’Neal III and a host of others.
He is also survived by his mother, Gloria Harding; his father, James Scroggins (Sabrina Scroggins); his siblings, Tanyka Harding, Latrelle Harding, Tasha Crews, Stacy Scroggins Curtis, and Shelisha Scroggins; his cousin and brother, Chadsmun Morris; his aunts, Carolyn O’Neal Jordan and Vanessia O’Neal Smith; along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who loved him dearly.
Marquel’s life was a gift to those who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter, wisdom, love, style, and unforgettable personality will live on through the many lives he touched.
Though he is no longer with us in person, his memory, his love, and the legacy he leaves behind will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Rest in peace, Marquel. You will be deeply loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
