Marilyn G. Merchant, a dedicated housewife known for her unwavering commitment to her family and community, passed away on August 18, 2023, in Venus, Texas. Born on March 20, 1936, in Waco, Texas, Marilyn was a cherished wife, mother, and friend to many. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Marilyn's greatest joy in life was her role as a loving wife to her husband Charles Merchant. For decades, they shared a deep and abiding love that served as an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they weathered life's ups and downs with grace and resilience. Marilyn's commitment to her marriage was unwavering and served as the cornerstone of her family.

As a mother, Marilyn poured her heart and soul into raising her children- Lynn Hill, Kim Bragg, Cheryl Hulsey; sons Charles Jr., Harold, Brian Merchant, Tommy Merchant. Always putting their needs above her own, she provided them with steadfast love and support. Marilyn's nurturing spirit created an environment of warmth and stability within their home.

Marilyn's dedication extended beyond the walls of her own household. She possessed an innate desire to help others and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her selflessness touched the lives of countless individuals in her community. Whether it was through donations to VFW Youth Projects or volunteering at local charities, Marilyn made a difference in the lives of others.

Deeply rooted in faith, Marilyn held a special place in her heart for the Lord. She was an active member of New Beginnings Baptist Church and found solace within its caring community. Her devotion to God guided her actions and provided strength during times of adversity.

In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Marilyn had varied interests that added color to her life. One could often find her scouring flea markets for antiques, an activity she thoroughly enjoyed. Her collection of unique and treasured items was a testament to her keen eye for beauty. She had a knack for turning ordinary objects into cherished keepsakes.

Marilyn's presence will be deeply missed by her surviving family and friends. Her legacy lives on through her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were incredibly fortunate to have experienced her love.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Luther Watts, brother Curtis, and Bobby Watts, as well as sister Dorothy Gray and son, Tommy Merchant. Though she may be physically gone, the memories and life lessons Marilyn left behind will be cherished forever.
