Loice Kwamboka Onyiego-Nyakundi, a beloved wife, mother, and pillar of the Kenyan community in Dallas-Fort Worth, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on December 28, 1955, in Kisii, Kenya, to James Onyiego and Penninah Monayo, Loice's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family, faith, and education.
Loice attended Kereri School for Girls in Kisii, Kenya, and upon graduating high school, she would eventually join her brother, Professor Benson Mochoge, in West Germany. She obtained a Master of Science degree in rural-urban planning from the University of Göttingen and was baptized at Göttingen Seventh-day Adventist church. Loice eventually moved to the United States, where she achieved several degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Texas Woman's University and a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP) from Walden University. Her academic accomplishments reflected her tireless work ethic and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Loice's life was enriched when she married her life partner and husband, Christopher Nyakundi, in Arlington, Texas. Together, they built a loving home and raised three remarkable children: Cliff, Robert, and Ashley Nyakundi. A devout Alpha International Seventh-Day Adventist Church member, Loice instilled her faith in her children, making it a cornerstone of her life.
Loice was preceded in death by her parents, James Onyiego and Penninah Monayo. She is survived by her husband, Chris Nyakundi, and their children, Cliff, Robert, and Ashley Nyakundi. She also leaves behind her brothers: Professor Benson Mochoge, Dr. George Onyiego & Geziah Moraa, Henry & Jane Gechuru, and Phillip & Judy Makini. Additionally, Loice is survived by her in-laws: Joshua & Joyce Nyakundi, Teresa Monda, James & Elizabeth Nyakundi, John & Dinnah Kumenda, Richard & Mellen Nyakundi, Bernard & Everlyne Nyakundi, Sam & Hellen Nyakundi, Robert & Christine Nyakundi, Kefa & Josephine Nyakundi, Naftal & Milkah Nyakundi, and Evans & Dinnah Nyakundi, among others.
