Kathleen L. Lowry

May 10, 1942 — April 25, 2024

Fort Worth

Kathleen (Kathy) Louise Butler Lowry, the daughter of Mary and Don Butler, was born on May 10, 1942, in Ventura, California. She passed away peacefully on April 25, 2024, in the presence of her two daughters, Meg Barrow and Mindy Slowinski.

A true matriarch, Kathy spent her early years devoted to raising her daughters and teaching them to be strong, independent women. ln addition to having a humorous outlook on life, Kathy was never afraid to speak her mind; conversations with her were always interesting and amusing.

She earned multiple college degrees and once her children were grown, became one of the first women to enter the field of Real Estate Appraising. After retiring, she remained active in the world of real estate through owning multiple rental properties and flipping houses with her girls.

The Lady Shriners and PEO were a very important part of her life. She was an active member in both organizations for many years. However, the Tarrant Area Food Bank was her charity of choice. She believed hunger to be an unacceptable condition and did all she could to help alleviate the problem. ln lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the food bank in her honor.

Kathy traveled to many different places throughout her lifetime, but Gearhart, Oregon, was by far her favorite place to be. Many happy times were shared with family members at the beach. From roasting marshmallows and singing around a campfire, to carrying sleeping toddlers up from the shore, Gearhart memories have always put a smile on her face. She grew up on the West Coast but lived the majority of her life in Texas. The long distance from her family made her beach visits especially important, enabling her to stay connected with her three siblings, Ma'Carry, Nan, and Scott.

Her legacy will be shared with future generations by the many branches of her family tree. The stories of her life will be told by family and friends who have had the pleasure of spending time with her. She is survived by two daughters, two sons-in-law, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three siblings, numerous other family members, and Bob, her loyal cat. We will always miss Kathy and will cherish our fond memories of her.
