Jason was born to Jerry and Patsy Jones in Fort Worth, Texas on December 4, 1972. He grew up in Wise County until his family later moved to White Settlement. As a teenager he developed a passion for music. He taught himself to play the guitar and enjoyed jammin’ with his buddies!

After graduating high school, Jason began pursuing his lifelong career in law enforcement, becoming a police officer for the town of Lakeside, on his 21st birthday.

Throughout his career, Jason served on lake patrol for the Fort Worth Marshal’s Office and later became the Chief of Police for Double Oak Police Department. In 2009 he became a deputy for the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department, where he served loyally for the last 14 years.

One fateful day in May of 1998 Jason decided to have dinner at a nearby restaurant. He had an odd craving for the restaurant’s barbecue, even though he did not like their barbecue at all! Despite knowing what a disappointment his meal would be, something compelled him, even as he cursed himself for even walking in the door. As soon as he sat down and caught sight of a beautiful young lady across the room, he knew why he was suffering through that meal. He had just laid eyes on the woman he was going to marry and caught a glimpse of the rest of his life. The barbecue he was eating began to taste much better now that he was looking at his beautiful future. By that July he put a ring on it and on September 19, 1998, he married the love of his life, Erin.

Together, Jason and Erin began to build their family when they adopted their niece, Brittany in 2000. Jason had always dreamed of having a big family. Just two years after Brittany became their daughter, Erin and Jason welcomed their daughter, Savannah. They continued to grow their family when their first son, Jacob arrived. Jason loved being a dad, and boy was he an incredible one! If you never had the pleasure of seeing the amazing Halloween ensembles he put together each year, you are missing out! When Jason did anything he was passionate about, especially creating fun experiences for his family, he went ALL out! He was particularly well known for making fun family movies featuring all the kids. It wasn’t long before he realized he needed more actors for his feature films! Plus, it was time for another girl, and along came Dakota! But alas, now the boys were sorely outnumbered, so they went on to complete their family with the addition of Jerry, then their youngest, Wyatt, to even out what Jason adoringly called “His Crew”.

Jason lived his life to the fullest in every way! He served his community with integrity and a servant’s heart, loved Erin with his whole heart, and gave all of himself to each of his beloved children. He was a very present and connected husband and father in his home and a wonderful friend to many. This deep devotion to those he loved is what drove him to fight with all of his strength for 19 months, even unto his final breath.

While his larger-than-life presence will be missed greatly, his love hasn’t gone anywhere. Jason’s unique, creative, dedicated, protective, and wildly comical spirit lives forever in the hearts of his friends, family, beloved wife, and incredible children
