Jimmy married Linda Blackburn, March 29, 1966. They would later divorce but would remain friends until she passed April 9, 2021. They had two sons, David Dwayne, born September 25, 1966 and 18 months later had Bobby Wayne April 30, 1968. Jimmy served in the US Army, until he was Honorably Discharged in November 1971. Upon retirement he would spend his days tinkering around his home, enjoying the flea markets, garage sales and spending time with his family. He loved spending time with his great grandchild. He spent time over the last couple of years watching them in sports. In March 2021, Jimmy would find out he had throat and lung cancer. He went through many surgeries, chemo and radiation.
