John Theodorus Johannes Dekker

John Theodorus Johannes Dekker has gone to be with the Lord on April 9, 2024, at the age of 94.

John was born on December 28, 1929 in Den Haag, Holand, to Remko Dekker and Rufien Dubois. John married Helen Clowes on August 3, 1958, in Glasgow, Montana. John was a missionary in New Guinea for over twenty years and held a Doctorate in Missiology. He was a member of Grace Community Church in Arlington, and then later First Methodist Church of Mansfield. John loved reading, hiking, traveling, and developing photos.

John is preceded in death by his parents Remko and Rufien; his brothers, Remko, Gerhard, and Theo; his son, Daniel.

John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Dekker; his daughter, Eva and Steve Long; his sons, Paul and Wendy Dekker, Theo and Lee Ann Dekker; his grandchildren, Ryan, Shauna, Luke, Cherith, Heather, Bethany, Theo, Emily, Rachelle, JT, Kara, Chelise, Caleb, Sam, Sophia, and Sadie; his great-grandchildren, Ember, Bodie, Johanna, Amos, Silas, Orson, Grayson, Emilia, Oliver, Jack, Maxine, Jewel, Lane, Alex, and Holly; his nieces, Helma, Vivian, Linda, Joké, Marjan; his nephews, Remko and Robert.
