Jimmy D. Burgess: A Life Filled with Love and Family

Arbyrd, Missouri has lost one of its beloved sons, Jimmy D. Burgess, who passed away on August 7, 2023, at the age of 72 in Mansfield, Texas. Born on April 15, 1951, Jimmy had a profound impact on the lives of those around him and will always be remembered for his warmth, love, and unwavering devotion to his family.

From a young age, Jimmy had a strong work ethic and a determination to excel. After graduating from General Motors Institute, he joined the interior department on the assembly line at General Motors. He took immense pride in his career and worked diligently until an unfortunate back injury forced him into retirement in 2002 at the age of 51. Even though his career was cut short, he continued to cherish the memories and experiences he gained during his time with General Motors.

While Jimmy found fulfillment in his professional life, his true passion lay in his family. He was a loving husband to Patricia Lowe Burgess for 16 years before her passing. Their marriage was filled with love and shared moments that will forever remain in Jimmy's heart.

As a father, Jimmy's love knew no bounds. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Burgess Elsayed; a constant source of joy and pride for him. Jennifer and her daughters Jasmin and Lily Elsayed were the lights of Jimmy's life. He found pure happiness when playing with his granddaughters; their laughter filling every corner of his heart.

Jimmy held deep connections with his siblings - Dolores Burgess Taylor, Peggy Burgess Sessums, Linda Burgess Huff, Wanda Burgess Watson - who shared countless memories with him. Growing up together created unbreakable bonds that remained strong throughout their lives.

When not surrounded by family, Jimmy indulged in hobbies that brought him immense pleasure. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, offering peaceful moments of solitude and a chance to commune with nature. Working on cars was another passion that ignited his excitement and allowed him to showcase his craftsmanship. Country-western music and old western movies provided the soundtrack to many cherished memories, transporting him to a place of nostalgia and happiness. Additionally, Jimmy had a deep love for hunting and would spend hours in the wilderness, appreciating the beauty of the great outdoors. But perhaps one of his greatest joys was listening to his brother-in-law play music, as it filled his soul with melody and touched him in ways that only music can.

Throughout his life, Jimmy sought to share his love and knowledge with others. Particularly in later years, he became involved with social media and served as the Administrator of Memories for Arbyrd, Missouri on Facebook. With an innate desire to connect and give back, he delighted in sharing pictures and providing information to anyone who sought it.

On August 17, 2023, family and friends will gather at Skyvue Victoria Chapel in Mansfield, Texas to pay their respects during visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on August 18th at the same location from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
