Jerry Don Coulter

Jerry Don Coulter 79, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023.

Memorial Service: 11:00am Thursday, August 10, 2023 at First Baptist Church Saginaw

Jerry was born June 6, 1944 to Dave Coulter and Winnie Wurst in Muleshoe, TX.  He went to West Texas State in Canyon on a theatre scholarship where he quickly learned that theatre in college was not the same as theatre in Muleshoe TX.  Being close to Hereford he was set up on a blind date with Carolyn Cowley who became the love of his life and in a very short time his wife.  Jerry Don was drafted into the Army where the day he was to deploy to Vietnam his entire troops papers were torn up and he was shipped to Korea, where the Pueblo had been seized.  He served his country as a typist for the military jail. Upon his return to the US he worked as a banker in Amarillo where he was quickly promoted to VP for The First Bank of Rhome, TX. In 1974 Jerry and Carolyn bought a home in Saginaw and raised their 2 children.  They built an amazing life together full of love, laughter, and so many friendships.  They joined the Frist Baptist Church of Saginaw where for many years they were very active.  Jerry loved his Sunday School class and the preparation for the lesson each week was one of his passions.  He loved playing water volleyball and  basketball, watching the Dallas Cowboys, reading books, and going to the movies.  On July 21st he was awarded a ticket to the pearly gates at his home of 44 years in the same room where 25 years prior Carolyn lost her battle to MS.  He was quite the character and will be greatly missed. 

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Carolyn, son, Mark, parents, Dave and Winnie and 3 sisters Pearlene, Charlene, Jaynie. 

 He is survived by his Daughter, Courtney, Grandchildren, Andy Levingston and wife Brooke, Madison, Easton and Peyton; Great Granddaughter Olive; Brother in law, Denis Cowley and wife Doris; Jacob and Jason Macias who cared for him in his last few years.  And multiple nieces and nephews.
