Jennie Altora Cook

Jennie "Jena" Altora Cook has gone to be with the Lord on April 30, 2025, at the age of 87.

Jena was born in Portland, Oregon on August 18, 1937, to Verena Phillips Powell and James Powell. She attended grade school in Portland, and graduated from high school in Vernonia, Oregon. Jena and George Cook married on February 7, 1975, in Seminole, Texas. She worked for Corp. of Engineer from 1983 until her retirement in 2001. She was a member, up until her passing, of New Life Bible Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Kedric McKnight. She loved to dance, listen to music, go to church, and spend time with her family.

Jena was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Verena and James; her brother, Bobby Powell; her sisters, Ruby McArthur and Margaret Parks; her nephews, Eddie Jones and Odell Jones; and her one of her best friends, Marry Harris.

Those left to cherish Jena's memory are her daughters, Ruby Johnson and Karen Smalls; her sons, Michael and Stephanie Johnson, James and Paula Johnson, Thomas and Reta Johnson, Robert and Bennie Johnson; her 17 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews, Verena Taylor, Felicia Parks, Jennell Brown, Delmar Montgomery; as well as, Irene Lee and OLG's, and many loving family members and friends.
