Janna To Nguyen

Janna To Nguyen, of Philadelphia, PA, formerly of Mansfield, TX, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at the age of 28.

She was born on March 29, 1995 in San Diego, CA to Phuong Ton and Hung Nguyen. 

In many ways, Janna was an enigma, unknowable in the way the most beautiful people are. One thing was clear about her, though: she knew how to love. You could hear it in her laugh, see it in her smile, the way her eyes crinkled, feel it in her gentle touch. 

Janna began to take a pottery class this September. She loved working with her hands. She also listened to “Kintsugi” by Lana del Rey a lot this year. The song is named after the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, but philosophically, “Kintsugi” also means that all of the brokenness and repairs are part of an object’s history, something to be admired. In a literal sense, “Kintsugi” means to “join with gold.” Janna was the gold of many lives, bringing people together with everything about her that made her special. As Lana says, the cracks are how the light shines in. There will always be a hole where Janna should be, but through that, her light shines in and we get to carry it with us forever, for her. 

Those left behind to cherish Janna's memory are her parents, Hung Nguyen and Phuong Ton; her siblings, Sarah Nguyen, Brendon Nguyen and Cody Nguyen; and her dear friends, Graeme, Matt, Kelsey, Rachel and Diana. 

Two visitations will be held for family and friends to honor Janna's life on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Skyvue Funeral Home located at 7220 Rendon Bloodworth Rd in Mansfield, Texas. 

Janna To Nguyen will forever be remembered as an extraordinary individual whose kind heart touched the lives of all those around her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Janna is going on her forever vacation.
