Janet Jaye Schell passed away on September 13, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on August 30, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, she lived a life centered on family, beauty, and the thoughtful joys that make a house feel like home.

A graduate of Sunset High School, Janet was a homemaker whose care and devotion shaped the lives of those around her in lasting ways. She married Thomas Schell Sr. on May 25, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, beginning a marriage that would stand as a treasured foundation for her family. She had a gift for making everyday life feel special, whether she was attending estate sales in search of something unique, hosting family celebrations that brought loved ones together, decorating for the holidays with warmth and flair, or putting together and styling outfits with a keen eye and unmistakable sense of charm.

Janet will be remembered with deep love by her husband, Thomas Schell; her daughter, Karla Newcomb; and her son, Thomas Schell Jr., and his wife, Shelby. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Gena and her husband, Miles Choate; Joshua Newcomb; Jessica and her husband, Nathan Futrell; and Presley Schell. Her legacy continues as well in her great-grandchild, Reid Choate. She is also survived by her nephew, Ricky Coppinger. In each of their lives, Janet’s presence will remain a source of comfort, pride, and cherished memory.

She was preceded in death by her father, J.J. Mason; her mother, Lois Mason; her sister, Jean Coppinger; and her brother, Bobby Mason.

Janet Jaye Schell will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the celebrations she created so beautifully, and the enduring devotion she poured into her family. Her memory will be held close by all who knew and loved her.
