Jan Lou Avett

March 18, 1947 — May 12, 2026

Jan Lou Avett from Fort Worth, Texas went to be with Jesus peacefully on May 12, 2026, at the age of 79 with her son and daughter by her side.

Jan was born on March 18, 1947, to Wilton Leon Beard and Helen June McCormick in Fort Worth along with her oldest sister, Betty Woodlee and younger sister, Patsy Sikes. While in and after graduating from Trimble Tech High School she worked at Montgomery Wards and continued there until after her first marriage with Henry Parker. She had 2 kids before moving into the finance industry where she managed offices for over 35 years throughout the Fort Worth area developing and growing many close friendships. Jan was then married to Bill Avett and lived in Alvarado from 1991 until his death in 2013.

Jan enjoyed watching her kids participate in sports, dancing, music, reading, gardening, knitting, game shows, bowling, crossword puzzles, NASCAR racing, but her top priority and joy later in life was being a Memaw and Nana. Jan had an extensive amount of valuable friendships and loved working in the nursery at Springdale Baptist Church.

Jan is survived by her son Brian Parker and daughter Rhonda & Brian Anderson; sister Betty Woodlee; grandchildren - Amber & Chris Goodman, Troy & Shannon Allred, Adrianna Daunis, and Ryan Anderson: great grandchildren - Austin and Christian Allred; Gray and Grant Goodman; Tex, Huxley, & Lainey Duanis. Niece Shantel and Barry Smith; Nephews - Scotty & Traci Parker, Michael Forrester, Shane & Christina Forrester, Gage Forrester

Jan is preceded in death by Clyde (GrinDiddy) Ring, Helen (Nanny) Ring, Wilton (HeyDaddy) Beard, Henry (Hank) Parker, Charles Woodlee, Bill (Bull) Avett, Patsy (Pooh) Sikes, Johnny Woodlee, and James Woodlee.

Other family and special friends - Janice Perkins, Richard Sikes, Rachel Crawford, Roy & Debra Beard, Bill & Nancy McCormick, Jeri McCormick, and so many more friends and extended family that loved and cherished Jan.

A closed casket funeral will be held at Laurel Land in Crowley, Texas on May 22nd @ 11am and then a Celebration of Life Memorial at Springdale Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas @ 4pm.

Mom, this is not "goodbye", but "we will see you soon".
