Mary Lou was born on December 3, 1927 to Uil C. Gunter and Ruth Lee Watson Gunter in Panhandle, Texas. Growing up during the great depression and dust bowls, Mary Lou and her family worked hard on the farm in order to have food and clothes. With everyone contributing to the household, Mary Lou and her three siblings were able to get an education. Mary Lou graduated from Canyon High School and went on to attend West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. After attending college, Mary Lou met and married Beal Jackson, who was in the US Air Force. Upon honorable discharge from the Air Force, Mary Lou and Beal settled in Happy, Texas where they farmed and started their family. Later moving to Tulia, Mary Lou was employed at various jobs while enjoying time with friends and family and attending Calvary Baptist Church and then First Baptist Church. Upon the passing of Beal, Mary Lou moved to Arlington, Texas, to live closer to her oldest children.

In Arlington, Mary Lou worked as a chiropractor assistant, x-ray technician and phlebotomist retiring in 1987.

Mary Lou was a very devout woman who loved the Lord. She became an active member of Fielder Church in Arlington and this has been her home church for the past 37 years. She was involved in many of the church groups and volunteered frequently. Those that knew Mary Lou would agree that Philippians 2:3 was true of her: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”

In her free time, Mary Lou loved to sew, travel and garden. She enjoyed playing games with friends and was always truly interested in people and spending precious time with those that she loved. Her loving smile and caring spirit will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.

One of Mary Lou’s most notable accomplishments was having her seven children, then came the blessing of grandkids and great grandkids.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, Uil and Ruth Gunter; husband and father of their children, Beal S. Jackson; husband, James Huguley; grandson, Brandon Love; son-in-law, Thomas King; and a brother and sister.

Mary Lou is survived by her children: Jerry Jackson and wife Jann, Donna Jackson and John, Janet Jackson, David Jackson and wife Loree, Sue Ann Palmore and husband Bob, Sara Rhoads and husband Mike, Cindy Hurt and husband Ricky; grandchildren, Marcus, Heather, Jenny and spouse Jason, Rachel and spouse Joel, Lizzie and spouse Taylor, Danielle and spouse Davin, David and spouse Emily, Dustin, Colton, Connor, Taylor and spouse Dylan; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Gage, Jayce, Jackson, Carter, Chet, John Allen, Sam, Frankie, Joleen, Bria, Kip, Ryan, and Koley.
