Joseph Dewayne Hughes

November 11, 1965 — April 1, 2023

Joseph Dewayne "Joe" Hughes, of Burleson, Texas, passed away on April 1, 2023 at the age of 57.

Celebration of Life: 12:00 Noon, Saturday April 15, 2023 at Skyvue Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas.

"Lil Joe" was born on November 11, 1965 in Lubbock, Texas. He lived his childhood in Lakeworth, where he was baptized, and young adult life in Arlington and Mansfield, Texas, attending Mansfield High School. He spent most of his adult life in Mansfield and Rendon, Texas.

His father, Charlie, was a master mechanic with FTW ISD and growing up, he instructed Joe with all of the auto repair knowledge that he held as an adult. His older brother, "Luke" took him under his wing at a young age and taught him his truck driving skill, which Joe used to become a valuable employee in the family business of 30 years, as a specialized oversize driver in the mobile home industry. Later on, he transitioned to an over the road flatbed hauler and tanker driver. He was non-military, but being born on Veteran's Day and having a daughter who is in the military, Joe was 100% a patriotic American.

As a young man, he acquired the love of motorcycles, which he raced and rode for over 50 years. Later on, the love spread to hot rods, playing darts and drinking a cold beer while spending time with his family, friends and animals. Most of all, Joe's love was out of this world for his daughter Bridget and his only grandbaby, Faith.

Fighting a lengthy battle with kidney and heart failure, sadly leaving this earthly world; you should know he is feeling no pain and rejoicing in the arms of his Heavenly Saviour, Jesus Christ.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George W. Wells and Maebell Wells; grandparents, William J. Hughes and Ione Hughes; loving father, Charles L. Hughes; a host of uncles and aunts.

Joe is survived by his caring and devoted mother, Helen J. Hughes (Wells); strong and determined daughter, Bridget Hughes and her fiancé, Career Veteran: Nate Warfield; prideful granddaughter, Faith Hughes; one and only brother, G. Luther Hughes; sister-in-law (more like sister) Tracy Hughes; nephew, Russell Hughes and fiancé Victoria Glaze; niece, Lacey Hughes; great nephews and nieces, Kyle Hughes, Ava Sullivan, Kaylee Taylor, Ayden Hughes, Chase "Hootie" Hughes; childhood best friend, Doug McKeever; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins of Lubbock and Brownwood, Texas; extended family members and loving friends.
