Helen G. Hawkins

Helen G. Hawkins was born in Tyler, Texas, on September 30, 1950, to John Claybron and Clemmie Haggerty. She was the youngest of three children and received her formal education at Emmett Scott High School.

Helen met and married the love of her life, John Hawkins, on May 21, 1970. They shared 55 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they raised three children: Jevon Linier Hawkins (married to Joyce L. Hawkins), Jason Lleavar Hawkins (married to Ayesha Hawkins), and Jennifer Lanece Hawkins. Helen was also the proud grandmother of three grandsons—Xavier Linier Hawkins, Jaylin LaMarcus Hawkins, and Dimitri Brice Hawkins—who were truly the pride and joy of her life. Her love for her family was deep and unwavering. She was an angel from God and will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Helen was one of the kindest and sweetest women you could ever meet. She had the biggest heart and an endless capacity for love, especially when it came to her grandsons. She was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother whose presence brought warmth and peace to those around her.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and service. Helen’s lighthearted nature, gentle spirit, strong devotion to her faith, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, John Claybron and Clemmie Haggerty; her paternal grandparents, George Haggerty and Hattie Hill; and her sister, Joyce Wade.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, John Hawkins; her children, Jevon L. Hawkins, Jason L. Hawkins, and Jennifer L. Hawkins; her three grandsons; her sister, Drucilla Brantley; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Rest in Peace, Helen. 

You have fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
