James Edwin Hall, of Burleson, passed away on January 18, 2022 at the age of 85.
James was born in Sumner, Lamar County, Texas on June 17, 1936 to Marvin and Gertrude Hall. James attended Northwest High School at Justin- Roanoke, Texas. After graduating in 1955, he went to work for the Texas and New Orleans Railroad, Southern Pacific line as a Telegraph Operator. After two years with the railroad, he met and married his wife, Peggy. He left the railroad and went to work for Seismic Engineering Co. as a Surveyor laying out shot line for oil exploration. He spent ten years with the company and started working in the land surveying field and became a registered Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Texas. James and his longtime friend Tony Whitfield formed the Whitfield-Hall Surveyors. He remained in the partnership until his retirement in 1999. James was a lover of Texas history and enjoyed poetry.
James is preceded in death by his mother and father, Gertrude and Marvin Hall; brothers, Charles Hall, Thomas Hall, David Hall; granddaughter, Taylor Jo Hall.
James is survived by his loving wife Peggy Hall; brother, Joe Hall and wife Patsy; daughter, Janie Griffin; son, Monty Hall and wife Melinda; grandchildren, Sundaye Lopez and husband Joel, Bailey Coker and husband Steven, Rawley Hall and partner Tori Langley; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Lopez, Lucas Lopez, Jackson Lopez and Lainey Coker. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many loved friends.
