Gerald William Lindell

Gerald “Jerry” William Lindell, age 77, of Alvarado, Texas passed away August 8, 2025 due to renal failure, after a courageous 6-month battle with stomach cancer. He died at home surrounded by loving family members.

Jerry was born on November 5, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Amos and Rose (Hasstedt) Lindell. The family later moved to Ames, Iowa, where he graduated from Ames High School in 1966. Jerry attended Iowa State University, then married the love of his life, Linda (Self) Lindell, in 1967. He joined the Air Force and was stationed in Tuscon, Arizona, then did a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam as a weather forecaster. He and Linda returned to Ames in 1970, where they started a family and Jerry began his career with Durlam & Durlam, a local men’s clothing store. In 1984, the family relocated to Denton, Texas, where Jerry and Linda founded Cross Timbers Pizza. He later began a long career with Men’s Wearhouse, which took him to Tulsa, Oklahoma, then back to Arlington, Texas. Most recently, he was employed by All-Pro Floor in Arlington. Jerry’s faith was very important to him, and he enjoyed attending church regularly, along with Bible study groups. He was known for his love of karaoke, country music, Elvis, making his famous pizza for family and friends and his love of cruises.

Jerry is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Linda, two daughters: Michelle (Randy) Thomas of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Stacy (Daniel) Jones of Alvarado, 4 grandchildren: Grace (Aaron) Hamby, Seth (Ashley) Thomas, Bree Jones and Brody Jones, and two great-grandchildren: Hazel Hamby and Marie Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Don and Mike.

Per Jerry’s request, there will be no formal service. Memorials may be directed to the family. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be left at www.skyviewfuneralhome.com for the Lindell family.
