Pastor Bruce Wayne Ford, was born in Minden, LA to the union of Otis D. and Vinie L. Ford, on the blessed day of June 28, 1943. He was raised in a loving Christian home with 9 siblings, where serving the Lord and being bound by the laws of God, was his foundation. There remain three of the siblings, along with their families, to mourn his death. Mary Walton, Johnny Ford (Gloria) and Mattie Preston.
Graduating from Webster High in 1962, Bruce joined the U.S. Army and was blessed to serve as Chaplain’s Assistant for three years and to serve an eighteen-month tour of duty in Viet Nam.
This man of God gave his life to Christ at an early age. He loved Sunday school and singing in the choir. His love for singing continued throughout his life, as he composed songs and sang in various quartets throughout the United States.
Bruce received that high calling from God to be consecrated for the work of God and used as an instrument of service to others, through the preaching of the Gospel. With joy, he preached in season and out. He ministered to and pastored numerous churches, the last being Christ Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in the city of Long Beach, CA. He was the founder and organizer of Christ Tabernacle and to this day, conversations are still being held regarding the lives that he impacted through his love of Jesus Christ.
Bruce leaves to remember and celebrate his life, his wife, Brenda Ford; son, Tony (Linda); daughter, Tyra (Jarreau Sr.); grandchildren who lived with him, Marc Leverett Jr., Jarreau Weaver, J'nye Weaver and J'nese Weaver, as well as other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, whom Bruce counted dear to his heart. Two sons, Bruce Jr. and Marc Sr. precede him in death.
