Floyd Charles Selman, 79, of Mansfield, Texas, entered his eternal home with the Lord on June 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Floyd was born on July 3, 1946, in Mansfield, Texas, to William Floyd "Buddie" Selman and Dorothy Lee Selman. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy Marie Selman Johnson.
A lifelong resident of the Mansfield area, Floyd graduated from Kennedale High School in 1964 and proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves.
On December 4, 1965, he married the love his life, Rebecca 'Ruby" Mejia. Together they built a marriage founded on faith, commitment, and devotion, sharing more than sixty years of life's blessings and challenges side by side.
At the age of twelve, Floyd accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. His faith remained the foundation of his life, providing him with strength, comfort, and hope though every season. He trusted wholeheartedly in the promise of eternal life and lived with the assurance that this world was not his final home.
Floyd was an avid reader who loved learning and a particular passion for history. He enjoyed collecting firearms and knives and could spend hours immersed in a good book or discussing historical events. while he appreciated many hobbies, nothing mattered more to him than his family.
He was a faithful and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. One of the proudest moments of his life came in 2022 when his grandson, Tyler Richardson, graduated from the Texas Department of Public Safety Academy and became a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper. Folyd was honored to pin Tyler's badge during the graduation ceremony, a memory he cherished and spoke of often.
Those who knew Floyd will remember his kindness, quiet strength, dry wit, unwavering loyalty, and steadfast dedication to the people he loved. He was a man of integrity whose actions spoke louder than words, and whose presence brought comfort and stability to those around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Rebecca "Ruby" Selman; his daughters, Lisa Richardson and husband Stewart, and Gracie Ann Selman; his grandson, Tyler Richardson and wife Priscilla; his great- grandchildren, Jace and Clara Richardson; and many beloved cousins and extended family members with whom he shared close and lasting relationships throughout his life.
While his family grieves his absence, they rejoice in the confidence that Floyd's faith has become sight and that he is now in the presence of the Lord he faithfully loved and served throughout his life.
His legacy of faith, love, loyalty, and devotion to family will continue for generations to come.
" I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
