In Loving Memory of Douglas Jene Martin:
On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, the community of Burleson, TX, bid farewell to a cherished individual known to all as Doug. At the age of 65, Doug passed away peacefully in his beloved home. His journey began in Colonial Hospital in Terrell, Texas, born to Joe Walter and Virginia Mae Martin. Throughout his life, Doug embodied the spirit of service. He dedicated himself to various roles within the Lions Club, leaving a positive impact on the lives of many. A devoted deacon at Alsbury Baptist Church, he exemplified his faith through selfless acts of kindness. As a Crowley Police Explorer leader, he nurtured young minds, shaping future leaders. Doug's compassion knew no bounds, as he generously supported numerous charities, including the Lions Club, Wounded Warriors, Crowley House of Hope, Crowley Youth Baseball, Crowley Band Boosters, Crowley Food Drive, and Center for ASD. Within the community, Doug was a beacon of hope for the elderly, single mothers, and children, extending his hand to all who needed it. For twenty years, he served as an Allstate insurance agent, providing protection and reassurance to countless families. Doug's heart was brimming with love for many passions. Family held a special place in his heart, and he cherished moments spent with loved ones. Car racing, hunting, cruising, and experimenting with new recipes brought joy and excitement into his life. Though his physical presence may have ended, Doug's legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the organizations he enriched, and the memories he left behind. His spirit of giving and kindness will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew him.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie Martin, and leaves behind a beautiful tapestry of family: his sons Chris Martin and wife Kelly, Matt Martin and fiancé Kita, step-daughters Wendy Vaughn and husband Davy, Jennifer Rogers and husband Chris, step-sons Seth Pierce and wife Stephany, Daniel and wife Leanndra, Mark Pierce and wife Lisa, as well as his brother Mike and wife Sharon. Additionally, thirteen grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews carry his memory in their hearts.
He is reunited in spirit with his father, Joe Walter Martin, his mother Virginia Mae Martin, and his brother Tim Martin. While we mourn the loss of our dear Doug, we find solace in the beautiful memories he gifted us and the enduring legacy he leaves behind. May he rest in peace eternally.
