Derris Reynolds

Derris Reynolds of Pittsburg, California and formerly of Arlington, Texas went to be with his favorite cousin, Lamar; his fabulous grandmother, Dorothea along with many other loved ones on March 4, 2026, in Athens, Texas at the age of 41.

Derris was born August 15, 1984, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Hakim Abdul-Jabbar and Jill Reynolds. He enjoyed the art of creating music and films as well as spending time with his family and friends.

His service will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Skyvue Memorial Gardens in Mansfield, Texas where his father, Hakim will lead the service, and he will be laid to rest by his cousin Lamar Reynolds.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving daughter, Shaniece; father, Hakim Abdul-Jabbar; mother, Jill Reynolds; sisters, Silvia and Chantell; brothers, Terry and Big John; aunts, Jaleen, Maria and Adrianne; uncles, Jeff and Larry; nieces, Aleri, Breya, Shayla, Socoya, Taysia; nephews, Amory and Jaedyn and a host of other loving family and friends who will miss him dearly.

I wake up every morning and forget that you are gone. I need a call or text. I need to hear your voice. I need to hear your laughter, your ideas, your jokes, even your complaints.

I’m so sad to know that all I have now are memories; we won’t create no more memories.

I was the first to hold your hand, the first to kiss you. I was there for all your steps in life. I miss you every minute of the day, but now all I have are memories.
