Dan Allan Baker, Sr.

June 11, 1957 — December 7, 2025

Dan Allan Baker, Sr., a cherished son, devoted husband, caring father, brother, “Paw”, and most currently “PooPaw”, passed away on December 7, 2025, at the age of 68.

He was truly the strongest, most resilient, and sometimes wonderfully stubborn man around, demonstrating an unwavering spirit that was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Born June 11, 1957, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Charles and Elenor Baker, Dan was the “baby brother” to surviving brother Charley Baker and Mary Jane Estes. Preceded in death by his parents, oldest sister, Dorothy Odom, and great-granddaughter, Nova Marie Bourque.

Dan met the love of his life, Sissy, in 1982. He was blessed with two daughters, Sonia and Tonia. He is survived by daughter Sonia Mays, granddaughter, Darian Bourque and her husband, Kaleb Bourque, great-granddaughter, Theia “Bug”, and great-grandson, Asher “the Crasher,” daughter, Tonia Alaniz and her husband, Steve Alaniz, granddaughters, Bailey and KayDee Cryts, Gracyn Alaniz, and grandson, Cade Alaniz. In 1988, Dan and Sissy welcomed son, Dan Allan Baker, Jr. He is survived by Dan, Jr., daughter in-law, Ashly and their unborn daughter, Evelyn Jade Baker.

Dan’s passions included auto racing, building and working on cars, being with his family and in his later years, watching and entertaining his great-grandchildren. Dan worked hard all his life and was the influence behind his children’s hard work ethic. Dan demonstrated the pride that resulted only after a hard day's work, often suppressing illnesses and ailments to provide for his family.

On December 7, 2025, Dan would fight his last battle. Over the past 31 years, he faced countless medical conditions that were often life threatening on numerous occasions. Dan is the definition of “never giving up”. His driving force was his wife, Sissy. Sissy would like to express her sincere gratitude to the various medical teams over the years. These individuals far surpassed the family's expectations, showing a kindness, compassion, and love that extended far beyond their professional duties. The family will forever be grateful for their abilities to never give up and never settle for just “routine care”. Dan’s longevity is celebrated through the efforts made over the years by his doctors and their supporting teams that provided exceptional care.

Dan’s legacy of love, hard work, loyalty, and playful banter will forever be with those who loved him and called him friend.
