John Conn

MANSFIELD -- John L. Conn, 65, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 20, 2016, in the comfort of his own home.
Service: 11 am Friday at First United Methodist Church in Mansfield. Visitation: 6-8 pm Thursday at Skyvue Funeral Home.
Burial: Skyvue Memorial Gardens.
John was born February 13, 1951 to George and Beatrice Conn in Jacksonville, TX and was raised in Myrtle Springs and Wills Point, TX. He was the loving father of Joshua Robert and Julie Ann Conn. John went to West Texas State on a bull riding scholarship and received a MBA from Pepperdine University. He started his career as a professional bull rider before spending 38+ years working in the electronics industry. He retired in 2011 with National Semiconductor as VP of Worldwide Quality and Manufacturing, after spending 15 years overseeing the Arlington, TX facility.
John was a devoted father and lover of sports; spending most of his free time watching his children's soccer games, golfing, hunting, fishing and attending Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers games. As an active worker in the community, he held Chairman/President positions within the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, Mansfield Economic Development, Mansfield Education Foundation, and Men's Golf Association at Walnut Creek Country Club. He also served on numerous other boards and foundations. John was a go-getter philanthropist, fundraising for many charities, most often the Mansfield Education Foundation.
John led by example, exemplifying the meaning of hard work and generosity, and always influenced others to be better individuals. His fun-loving personality, positive attitude and smiling face will be missed by all that know him.
John was preceded in death by his Father, George Amond Conn.
Survivors: Son, Josh Conn; daughter, Julie Conn; Mother, Beatrice Conn; brother, George Conn; sister-in-law, Oma Conn along with numerous other loving family and friends.
